Counselor education students and faculty traveled to the Florida state capitol in Tallahassee in February to advocate for counselors. Students and faculty attended legislative sessions and met with state representatives and senators to discuss a variety of counseling issues.
Kathleen Joseph, a 2015 M.Ed/Ed.S. graduate from the Counselor Education program at the University of Florida, was honored as the Florida Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (FAMFT) Student of the Year.
Emily (Mills) Schweim (2012 UF School Counseling graduate) was recently honored as “Teacher of the Year” at the high school where she is employed in Orange County, Florida.
Ahmad Jazimin Jusoh, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology and Counseling, University of Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia, is a visiting scholar with the UF Counselor Education program through January 2016.
Eight Counselor Education students received College of Education scholarships at the 13th Annual College of Education Recognition Dinner held on April 24, 2015.
DePue has been named Outstanding Addictions and Offender Educator by the International Association of Addictions and Offender Counselors (IAAOC).
Dr. Mary Ann Clark, Professor Emeritus, has been named a Fellow of the American Counseling Association (ACA).
Sandi Logan, University of Florida counselor education doctoral student was named Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) Outstanding Doctoral Student.
Sandi Logan, doctoral student, was awarded the 2014 Florida Counseling Association (FCA) Member of the Year Award at the 65th Annual FCA Convention in Tampa, Florida. Sandi is the graduate student representative of FCA. Additionally, she is a member of the social media/ legacy project committee. She was also the FCA convention volunteer coordinator this year. Congratulations Sandi!
Students, faculty, and alumni attended the 65th annual Florida Counseling Association (FCA) conference in Tampa, Florida in October 2014. The conference provided an opportunity for presenting, learning, and networking. There were a total of 16 presentations facilitated by UF students.
