Rachel Henesy, MAE/EdS student was selected as the 2013 recipient of the Florida Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development (FAMCD) Max Parker Award for Multicultural Excellence, which recognizes a student’s multicultural involvement through research, community, ethics, and self-balance.
The Association for Specialists in Group Work (ASGW) named Emilie (Emi) Lenes one of their 2014 Emerging Scholars.
Rachel Henesy, a master’s/EdS student in the Counselor Education program has been selected as the recipient of the Chi Sigma Iota-International, Outstanding Entry level Student award.
Sandi Logan, doctoral student in the Counselor Education Program at UF, won first place in the Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) leadership essay contest. Logan was also selected to serve as a CSI Leadership Fellow for the 2014-2015 year.
Group Counseling is a counselor education course required for all master’s level counseling students. As part of the class, the students went to the Ropes Course to experience the group process through a series of problem-solving and teamwork activities.
Counselor Education students attended and presented at the Florida School Counselor Association (FSCA) Conference held in November.
Counselor Education students and faculty attended the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES) Conference in Denver, Colorado in October. Students and faculty presented on a variety of topics related to counselor education and supervision, attended presentations, networked with others, and spent time reconnecting with alumni.

Rachel Henesy is the recipient of the Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision Outstanding Master’s Student Award. She is in her third year in the M.AE/Ed.S degree program for Mental Health Counseling at the University of Florida.
