Application Deadlines
- The priority deadline is December 1. Applications that meet the priority deadline will have first consideration for admission. Any applications after the priority date and before the final deadline of December 15 will still be reviewed.
- Applicants can expect to receive an initial response by mid-January.
- International applicants should consider that the application dates may not allow enough time for processing of immigration requirements. It is strongly advised that international students apply at least 6 months before the date they intend to start the program.
EduGator VisDays 2026
Date: February 15-17
Location: Gainesville, Florida
Visitation Days, or VisDays, are an opportunity for prospective M.Ed. students to visit UF’s campus and learn more about the Student Personnel in Higher Education (SPHE) program. Candidates will be able to network with current SPHE students and faculty, learn more about SPHE program requirements and interview for Graduate Assistantships/positions. Visitation Days are by invitation only. Final admissions decisions are made after Visitation Days and Graduate Assistantship/position interviews.
Graduate Assistantships
Departments within the Division of Student Life at the University of Florida and Student Affairs at Santa Fe College, as well as related departments and colleges, provide employment opportunities for graduate students interested in pursuing a career in a student affairs-related field. These graduate positions enable students to combine the knowledge learned in the classroom with the experience of working in a professional setting. In short, students can put theory into practice. The personal and professional skills gained by directly applying what is learned in the classroom will be beneficial throughout your professional career.
If you plan to attend the SPHE program as a full-time student and will not be working as a full-time professional, please indicate your interest in applying for a Graduate Assistantship/Position on your On-Campus M.Ed. SPHE program application. Selection for the SPHE academic program and the assistantship/position hiring process are separate but collaborative and concurrent. On-campus SPHE students are required to have a Graduate Assistantship/Position or related employment due to the “theory-to-practice” nature of the program.
Most graduate assistantships/positions are 20 hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters. Some assistantships/positions are also available during the Summer semester. Candidates must be accepted to a graduate program at the University of Florida to be eligible for graduate employment. Please note: first preference is given to students applying to the SPHE master’s degree program.
Some terminology to be aware of as you interview for openings:
- Assistantships typically include a stipend, tuition waiver, and health care.
- Positions may not include a tuition waiver or health care; however, they do include a competitive stipend and other benefits.
