Congratulations Counselor Education

The UF Counselor Education Program has consistently been ranking in the top 10 by the US News & World Report since the ranking began in the 1990s. Recently, they released the rankings for 2020 and the UF Counselor Education Program moved up two spots to be tied for #3.

Fourth Annual Advocacy Trip to the State Capitol

The UF Counselor Education Program traveled to Tallahassee to engage in legislative advocacy for the 4th straight year.

Eric Richardson Awarded ASAM Young Investigator Abstract Submission Award

Eric Richardson, counselor education doctoral student, was selected to receive the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Young Investigator Abstract Submission Award for his abstract for his poster presentation titled, “Perceived Quality of Sleep During Substance Use Disorder Treatment.”

Daniels to Serve as Editorial Chair of the LAIN blog

Philip Daniels, doctoral student, was selected to serve as the editorial chair for the LGBT Aging Issues Network (LAIN) blog. The LAIN is a committee within the American Society on Aging.

Caleb Chambliss, master’s/Ed.S. student, was a recent Tedx Talk speaker. Tedx Talks are short talks that are focused on the local community and involve local speakers. Caleb’s presentation was titled: “Representation: The Purpose of Your Story.”

Houseknect Receives Dissertation Research Grant

Alisa Houseknecht, doctoral student, received a research grant from the Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (SACES) to support her dissertation titled, “Motivation, Belonging, and Support: Examining Factors that Affect Persistence in Counselor Preparation Programs.”

Doctoral Students Receive Recognition From the International Center

Two international students, Huzeyfe Cakmakci and Debolina Ghosh, in the Counselor Education Doctoral Program were recognized by the UF International Center in receiving certificates of excellence. Huzeyfe is from Turkey and Debolina is from India. Dr. Sondra Smith serves as the chair and mentor for both students.
