New Federal Export Control Laws
In 2022, the U.S. Department of Commerce implemented new export control rules on Advanced Computing and Semiconductor Manufacturing Items to the People’s Republic of China (RPC). The resulting restrictions extend to the transfer of technology, software, or other “support” for the fabrication of items in the PRC, also applicable to Hong Kong and Macau. Research, collaborations, tape-out, or fabrication services involving advanced computing, semiconductor, supercomputing, or integrated circuits where there is potential involvement at a facility in the PRC are likely to be affected by the regulations. UF Research Integrity, Security & Compliance (RISC) is reviewing active collaborations and may contact you for additional information. If your research project involves tape-out or fabrication services in the PRC, please contact UF RISC before proceeding further.
