How do I apply?

Students must submit applications to both the department and to the university graduate school. For more details visit the application process page.

Once the applications have been reviewed individuals will be contacted from someone from the department and a telephone interview may be requested to finalize the application process.

When are applications due?

Summer admission – March 15
Fall admission – July 1
Spring admission – October 15

Please give yourself a minimum of two weeks prior to the application deadline to allow the university to receive official GRE scores.

All application material should be received by the deadline.

Where should I have my GRE scores sent?

Applicants are required by the UF Graduate School to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) to qualify for admission consideration to the master’s degree program. Official GRE scores must be sent to both UF Graduate Admissions and the Educational Leadership office.

How do I arrange a campus visit?

Applicants to the REM program are encouraged to schedule a campus visit, where they will have the opportunity to talk to REM faculty and students, and visit the REM facilities. All applicants interested in campus visitation should contact the REM program coordinator.

What is the cost of attendance?

The cost of living in Gainesville is relatively low, while having much to offer in the way of attractive natural, cultural and recreational amenities — especially compared with larger, more congested urban areas. Financial support for graduate students in the Research and Evaluation Methodology (REM) program is available in the form of graduate research assistantships and teaching assistantships. All applicants who want to be considered for financial support should complete and submit the Application for Fellowship and Assistantship. After acceptance letters have been sent out, REM faculty will initiate the process of contacting applicants that may be suitable for each research or teaching assistantship opportunity.

African American and Hispanic students applying to the REM Ph.D. program are encouraged to apply for McKnight Doctoral Fellowships. This fellowship provides an annual stipend, tuition, health insurance and fee waiver for a maximum of five years.

Applicants to the REM program that have received admission notification are encouraged to apply to the Florida Board of Education (BOE) summer fellowship program, if they are US citizens. This is an outstanding opportunity for newly admitted graduate students to become acquainted with UF. Participants receive a stipend, a tuition waiver to enroll in four credit hours of Summer B Semester graduate coursework counting towards their degrees and non-credit preparatory courses in graduate level research and writing. Is there financial aid available for this program?

Students are encouraged to apply to the UF Office for Student Financial Affairs for assistance with loans, grants, and fellowships.

How far in advance do I need to apply for financial aid?

Financial aid information is available from the UF Office of Financial Aid. The financial aid process can take up to several months from submission to approval and disbursement. This should be incorporated into the student’s plan for admission and done well in advance of acceptance and the begin date for the program.

Does this program accept the GMAT?

No, this master’s program does not accept GMAT scores. Only GRE scores may be submitted for consideration.

Is teaching experience or certification required for admission into this program?

No. Neither past teaching experience nor teacher certification are required in order to qualify for this degree program.
