In today’s climate of data-driven accountability, decision-makers rely on well-trained specialists who can answer one question: “What works?” The UF online master’s in program evaluation (M.A.E.) prepares graduates who can skillfully develop, improve, and assess programs and policies across disciplines.

Our students come from a wide variety of backgrounds—including psychology, education, sociology, political science, anthropology, agricultural sciences and health education. However, they share a common goal: driving meaningful change through effective program evaluation. With the skills gained from our master’s program, our students go on to provide vital evaluation support for organizations seeking solutions to critical problems at local, national and global levels.

Program Overview

The goal of the UF M.A.E. in program evaluation in educational environments is to prepare exemplary evaluators who can apply state-of-the-art theory and tools across a variety of disciplines. If you have practical experience in your field and want to build the rigorous methodological expertise needed to assess impact and inform policy, this program is tailored to your professional aspirations.

Our 36-credit online program is designed to take two years to complete and follows a structured, sequential curriculum to systematically build your methodological skills. Instead of a traditional thesis, this program culminates in a comprehensive, practical project where you will develop, implement and report on a complete evaluation plan for a real-world setting.

By pursuing your master’s in program evaluation, you will:

Master Core Skills: Learn to evaluate social science programs and carefully interpret educational data. You will also develop key assessment instruments. Ultimately, you will use advanced methodologies to successfully plan, conduct and complete full program evaluations.
Build Technical Expertise: Engage in coursework focused heavily on evaluation theory, research methodology, statistics and psychometrics as applied to educational environments.
Advance Your Career: Qualify for high-demand jobs in federal and state agencies, higher education, school districts, and both for-profit and non-profit organizations. Many of our graduates also choose to work as private consultants in a variety of fields.
