Teacher Leadership Certificate

About the Certificate

This online graduate certificate offers practicing educators job-embedded coursework to build their knowledge, skills, and dispositions related to the cultivation of teacher leadership in themselves and others. Certificate students will hone skills in coaching and teacher research through content- and context-specific assignments that culminate in a teacher leadership portfolio.

Courses

The Teacher Leadership certificate is a total of 12 hours, or 4 online courses. The courses that comprise the certificate are as follows:

  • EDE 6325 Teacher Inquiry/Action Research (3 credits)
  • EDG 6348 Instructional Coaching for Enhanced Student Learning (3 credits)
  • EDG 6047 Teacher Leadership for Educational Change (3 credits)
  • xxx xxxx Graduate level elective in a subject-specific content area or advanced methods of teaching related to the student’s current educational role or context. NOTE: elective should be in the College of Education. Examples include: TSL 6373 Methods of Teaching ESOL K-12, RED 5355 Reading Instruction in Intermediate Grades, SCE 5316 Inquiry-based science teaching, and MAE 6313 Problem Solving in School Mathematics. See your advisor for options.

Application Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a regionally accredited Institution (submit transcripts)
  • Experience within the discipline of education
  • Résumé with recent experience within education
  • A statement of purpose
