Educator Standards
The mission of the educator preparation programs at the University of Florida is to prepare exemplary practitioners and scholars; to generate, use and disseminate knowledge about teaching, learning and human development; and to collaborate with others to solve critical educational and human problems in a diverse global community.
The University of Florida offers 18 State-approved programs leading to educator certification. Five of the programs are located in other UF Colleges, including the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (Agricultural Education) and the College of the Arts (Art Education and Music Education).
All of the University’s educator preparation programs are accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and are approved by the Florida State Department of Education. The Counselor Education programs are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). The School Psychology program is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) and approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).
