Grants Training in Gainesville

The City of Gainesville and Grant Writing USA will present a two-day grants workshop in Gainesville, February 26 – 27, 2018.  This training is applicable to grant seekers across all disciplines.  Beginning and experienced grant writers from city, county, and state agencies as well as nonprofits, K-12, colleges, and universities are encouraged to attend.

This workshop will cover how to write grant proposals from start to finish and how to locate and track relevant grant opportunities. Seating is limited; online reservations are necessary.

Updated Options for Research Computing Storage

UFIT Research Computing recently updated its storage offerings. The UF prices, which are subsidized, have not changed. The new storage option ($25/TB/year) is called the “orange” option, while the existing /ufrc storage is now the “blue” option. The options support different use cases, summarized at Help > Getting Started > Storage.

Replicated storage is no longer a service offering, though storage of older (historical) versions of files is available. This can be provided with the tape backup option described at About > Policies > Storage > Data Protection. Development of a disk-based backup option is also underway.

The UF Division of Sponsored Programs (DSP) has posted a resource on its website to assist in the conversion from percent effort to person months. Please use this Excel-based calculator to assist in effort commitment entry into UFIRST, as well as on proposal budgets, and any other effort commitment conversion needs.
