OER Annual Report of Accomplishments for Fiscal Year 2017

The Office of Educational Research (OER) completed its annual report outlining data on externally funded projects and grant activities in the College of Education (COE). Faculty productivity and efforts toward securing external funding remain high and have surpassed fiscal year (FY) 2016 in (a) number of proposal submissions, (b) dollar amount of proposal submissions, (c) number of newly funded projects, (d) dollar amount of newly funded projects, (e) number of currently funded projects, and (f) dollar amount of currently funded projects.

2018 IES Submissions Set a New COE Record

COE faculty members in all schools and centers submitted 20 proposals to the Institute of Education Sciences (IES)—a record number—for this year’s August deadline. The total dollar amount requested was $25,091,652.

The Institute of Education Sciences (IES) is posting a series of on-demand webinars for those who are interested in Fiscal Year 2019 funding opportunities and learning more about IES.

Changes Are Coming to IES Research Competitions

For the 2018 proposal cycle, the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) received over 900 applications. IES Director, Mark Schneider, has announced changes he is considering for Fiscal Year 2020 Requests for Applications (RFAs) for the two research centers: National Center for Education Research (NCER) and National Center for Special Education Research (NCSER).

How to Enter the NSF 2026 Idea Machine Competition

The National Science Foundation NSF 2026 Idea Machine competition is an opportunity for researchers, the public, and other interested stakeholders to suggest pressing research questions that need to be answered in the coming decade: the next set of Big Ideas for future investment by NSF.

Participants can earn prizes and receive public recognition. For the Grand Prize, each final winning entry will receive $26,000 and its authors (individuals or teams) will be invited to a recognition event in the Washington, D.C. area.

Registration Is Open for the NSF Fall Grants Conference

Registration for the Fall 2018 National Science Foundation (NSF) Grants Conference opened Sept. 6 on the Fall 2018 Grants Conference website.

The event will take place November 8–9, 2018 in New Orleans, Louisiana at the Intercontinental New Orleans. The registration fee is $425. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be provided to all participants.

NSF anticipates that this event will reach capacity very quickly, so please register as soon as possible to secure your spot.

Register for the 2018 UF Undergraduate Research Expo

Registration is open for faculty interested in attending the 2018 Undergraduate Research Expo.

The purpose of the expo is to provide an informal setting for undergraduate students to talk with research faculty. Faculty and graduate students from all fields are invited to this meet and greet.

The expo is an excellent place to recruit undergraduate researchers while providing an opportunity for students to learn about research at UF and to network with research faculty members.

This year’s event will be held September 24 from 5 pm – 7 pm in the Reitz Rion Ballroom.
